Virtual Stylist: Zoe Saldana

I realized yesterday that I forgot to complete Zoe's look. She'll need some fierce makeup for that fierce dress.

EYES

For her eyes, I'm thinking we should do a cobalt blue lid like the one below and blue eyeliner to bring her eyes out. I think we also need to do a dramatic, dark mascara but not the cat eye.

LIPS

I would love to her do a light pink lipstick, lighter than baby pink, with a clear gloss.

HAIR

I think the earrings I chose will work with both of these hair styles! I prefer the straight hair because I think it is beautiful and feminine however, I think since her dress is so powerful and her jewelry is so demure, a statement hairstyle such as this one would work.

I will definitely be back with another look for Zoe's LA premiere and as soon as we see what she wore on the red carpet, I'll be posting it on my blog!

Trend Watch: Runway to Wardrobe

I don't know if you guys have noticed, but shoulder pads are here to stay...at least this season! Actually, I wouldn't call them shoulder pads, I'd say, they're more like frame accentuaters! Anyway, several designers featured the trend in their Spring 2010 collections. Chanel, Hermés, Alexander McQueen, and of course Balmain (who has featured them in varied ways in a number of his collections, each representation unique, fresh, and breathtaking to say the least.)

Well, I don't know about you, but I have scoured the corners of the earth trying to find similar shoulder-centric designs in my price range. Don't worry yourslf with shopping around though, I have done the leg work (make that web work) for you.

I have to say that this is a trend that I am embracing with open arms. Nothing gives a woman more confidence than strong shoulders because it gives you length and forces you to walk up straight with your shoulders back. I LOVE IT!!

My FIRST Photoshoot...

So, for one of my classes, I had to complete a photo shoot. I hadn't initially planned on putting any of the proofs up here but they turned out so beautifully that I have to share with my blog world.

My boyfriend Wes is the guy model and one of my good friends Kelly is the female model. They have both only done a little modeling in Omaha and Wes has done some in St. Louis so I was pleasantly surprised with how amazing they did.

Virtual Stylist: Well...Kinda!

Last week, one of my really good friends emailed me for advice on what shoes to wear with a dress she had purchased for her graduation party. Initially, I planned on sending her simple shoe suggestions: 'I would wear pumps.' Clean and simple, and the I thought, what kind of stylist does that? So, I decided that I should provide her with options, LOTS OF THEM!!!

I also suggested a more round toed pumps. They are a tad more comfortable because there is more room in the toe. I really LOVE these shoes!!

Here's where it gets super fun though. Many of you may not know that Omaha is experiencing some pretty heinous weather. We got about 10 inches of snow this week so I thought it would be great to pear that dress with a nice, tall pair of leather boots! How fun!!!

Virtual Stylist: Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana is having a GREAT year. She starred in the blockbuster mega hit Star Trek in May and this month, the much anticipated James Cameron movie, Avatar hits theaters. She is gonna need something amazing to wear. I'm thinking for this premiere she should go fun glam. Something striking that doesn't take itself too seriously.

This Moschino heel is definitely a statement shoe but I think it will work well with the dress. Both pieces are dominant but you'll only get glimpses of the shoe as she walks so it shouldn't be overpowering.

For a simpler look, I think this platform patent leather Versace heel would be sublime! It's simple enough that it wont steal attention from the dress and it will mesh well with the glittery look of the material.

Now, for a purse, she is gonna need a small clutch, again, something that doesn't distract you from the dress. This Giorgio Armani Stingray clutch is perfect!

I'm think her jewelery needs to be very simple as well. I really love this silver bracelet by Ikken. In fact, I like it so much that I think we should stack it, perhaps two or three of them to give her accessories a little edge!

I think these Dannijp Finley earrings are ROCKSTARS!!! They have an edgy, kind of rock and roll feel to them. I love the braided metal look, it's very hard and the diamonds kind of soften it up a bit!

My girlfriends always ask me where I get my jewelery. The truth is, I am allergic to most metal and so, I refuse to spend more than a few bucks on anything. With that in mind, I must say that I am a die hard fan of Forever21. So, today, I'm gonna show you how Forever21 stacks up to the really expensive, mostly unaffordable stuff we all love.

Looks I Love

In the hours I spend, scouring the web for looking for dresses to style people in, I come across tons of pieces that I simply fall in love with. So rarely do I get to share my own style preferences for high fashion. I have created a lookbook on Style.com of some of the things that I would absolutely LOVE to have for myself. Another Christian that I am insanely fond of is Christian Siriano! He was the pint-sized winner of Project Runway's fourth season who launched the word fierce into the fashion lexicon. His designs are whimsical and flirty and beautiful and most importantly, HAUTE! I don't think I've ever seen a garment of his that I didn't instantly love but there are some that I am just completely taken with!
